Clark County is one of the 88 county of Ohio, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 144742. Its population was estimated at 139859 in July 2008, It is Ohio's 21st most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 403.56 square miles (1045.22 kmē ), of which, 399.86 square miles (1035.63 kmē) of it is land and 3.7 square miles (9.58 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.

The population density was 362 people per square mile (139.77/kmē), it is Ohio's 15th most densely populated county. There were 61056 housing units at an average density of 152.7 per square mile (58.96/kmē). The average household size was 2.49 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 25.1% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 139859, The racial makeup of the county was 123683 White, 12211 Black or African American, 463 American Indian, 914 Asian, 46 Native Hawaiian, and 2542 from two or more races.
