Clarendon City is a city located in Monroe County, Arkansas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 1960. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1666, It is the 135th largest in terms of population. The city spans an area of 1.95 square miles (5.05 kmē), of which, 1.83 square miles (4.74 kmē) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 kmē) of it is water, it is the 250th largest by area in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1960 residents, 814 households, and 520 families in the city. The population density was 1072.9 people per square mile (414.25/kmē), giving it the 74th most densely populated city among the Arkansas. There were 925 housing units at an average density of 505.5 per square mile (195.17/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.02. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 68.47% White, 30.2% Black or African American, 0.46% American Indian, 0.05% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.82% from two or more races and 0% Other races.
