Cibola County is one of the 33 county of New Mexico, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Cibola County had an official population of 25595 in 2000. In July 2008, its estimated population was 27285, It is the 17th largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 4541.71 sq mi (11762.97 kmē ), of which, 4539.21 square miles (11756.5 kmē) of it is land and 2.5 square miles (6.47 kmē) of it is water, it is the tenth largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico.

The population density was 5.6 people per square mile (2.16/kmē), making it the 20th most densely populated county in New Mexico. There were 10328 housing units at an average density of 2.3 per square mile (0.89/kmē). The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.41. In the county Age distribution was 30.7% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.5 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 27285, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 14696 White, 441 Black or African American, 11556 American Indian, 124 Asian, 20 Native Hawaiian, and 448 from two or more races.
