Churchill County is a county in the United States of Nevada. The county has a population of 23982 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 24896, It is the eighth largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 5023.38 sq mi (13010.49 kmē ), of which, 4929.08 square miles (12766.26 kmē) of it is land and 94.3 square miles (244.24 kmē) of it is water, giving it the tenth largest by total area among Nevada's county. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Nevada.

The population density was 4.9 people per square mile (1.89/kmē), it would be the seventh most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Nevada. There were 9732 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (0.77/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.09. In the county the population was spread out, with 28.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.1 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 24896, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 21699 White, 415 Black or African American, 1302 American Indian, 709 Asian, 86 Native Hawaiian, and 685 from two or more races.
