Choctaw County, Oklahoma is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. It is home to over 15342 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 14890, It is 46th most populous county in Oklahoma. It has total area of 800.68 sq mi (2073.75 square kilometre), of which, 773.93 square miles (2004.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 26.75 square miles (69.28 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Oklahoma's 41st largest county by total area.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 14890, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 68.15% White, 10.69% Black or African American, 15.55% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 5.43% from two or more races.
