Choctaw County, Alabama is a county of the United States of Alabama. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 15922 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 14055, It is Alabama's 11th least populous county. The county has a total area of 920.85 sq mi (2384.99 sq km), of which, 913.51 square miles (2365.98 sq km) of it is land and 7.34 square miles (19.01 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 13th largest by total area in Alabama.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26.1% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 14055, The racial makeup of the county was 7818 White, 6125 Black or African American, 26 American Indian, 9 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 77 from two or more races.
