Chincoteague Town is a one of the Accomack County, Virginia, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of town in 2000 stood at 4317 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4296, making it Virginia's 137th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 37.07 square miles (96.01 square kilometre), of which, 9.63 square miles (24.94 square kilometre) of it is land and 27.44 square miles (71.07 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 13th largest by size in Virginia. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Virginia.

The population density was 448.2 people per square mile (173.05/kmē), making its Virginia's 82nd least densely populated town.
