Chiefland City, Florida


Chiefland City is a city located in Levy County, Florida, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1993 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 2133, It is the 265th least populous in the U.S. state of Florida. Its area is just over 3.91 mi˛ (10.13 square kilometre), it is the 412th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1993 people, 796 households, and 511 families residing in the city. The population density was 509.5 people per square mile (196.72/km˛), making it the 161st least densely populated city in Florida. There were 931 housing units at an average density of 238.1 per square mile (91.93/km˛). The average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 31.3% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 20% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 79.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 71.3 males. The median age of the city's population was 34.2 years, the median age of male residents at 32 and the median age of female residents at 35.3. The racial makeup of the city was 60.36% White, 34.27% Black or African American, 0.65% American Indian, 1.66% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, 2.31% from two or more races and 0.65% Other races.
