Chicot County is a one of the county from Arkansas's 75 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 14117 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 11993, It is the 18th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The county has a total area of 690.88 square miles (1789.37 square kilometre), of which, 644.03 square miles (1668.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 46.86 square miles (121.37 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Arkansas's 32nd largest county by total area. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14117 people in the county, organized into 5205 households, and 3642 families residing in the county. The population density was 21.9 people per square mile (8.46/kmē), it is Arkansas's 22nd least densely populated county. There were 5974 housing units at an average density of 9.3 per square mile (3.59/kmē). The average household size was 2.58 people, and the average family size was 3.12 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.5% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 11993, The racial makeup of the county was 5279 White, 6510 Black or African American, 19 American Indian, 59 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 123 from two or more races.
