Chicopee City is a city located in Hampden County, Massachusetts, in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. In 2000, the population was 54653. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 54941, It is the 21st most populous in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The city comprises an area of 23.9 sq mi (61.9 square kilometre), of which, 22.87 square miles (59.23 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.03 square miles (2.67 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 21st largest by size in Massachusetts.

As of the census of 2000, there were 54653 people, 23117 households, and 14139 families living in the city. The population density was 2389.7 people per square mile (922.67/kmē), making it the 64th most densely populated city in Massachusetts. There were 24424 housing units at an average density of 1067.9 per square mile (412.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.96.
