Cheyenne County is a United States county located in the United States of Colorado. Cheyenne County had an official population of 2231 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 1749, It is the fifth smallest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 1781.37 square miles (4613.73 sq km ), of which, 1781.35 square miles (4613.68 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 25th largest by total area among Colorado's county.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2231 people, 880 households, and 603 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.3 people per square mile (0.5/kmē), making its Colorado's fifth least densely populated county. There were 1105 housing units at an average density of 0.6 per square mile (0.23/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 and the average family size was 3.12. The population's age distribution was 28.8% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.4 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 1749, The racial makeup of the county was 97.88% White, 0.63% Black or African American, 1.09% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.4% from two or more races.
