Chester County is a county located in the United States of Tennessee. In 2000, the population was 15540. Its population was estimated at 16309 in July 2008, It is the 22nd least populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county spans an area of 288.74 mi˛ (747.83 square kilometre), of which, 288.52 square miles (747.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.22 square miles (0.57 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 18th smallest by total area among Tennessee's county.

The population density was 53.9 people per square mile (20.81/km˛), it is the 62nd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. There were 6178 housing units at an average density of 21.4 per square mile (8.26/km˛). The average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the Chester County, 24.2% of the population was under the age of 18, 14.4% were 18 to 24, 26.4% were 25 to 44, 21.4% were 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 16309, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 88.52% White, 9.99% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.25% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
