Chester County, Pennsylvania is a county of the United States of Pennsylvania. In 2000, the population was 433501. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 491489, It is seventh most populous county in Pennsylvania. It covers total area of 759.81 miē (1967.9 kmē), of which, 755.97 square miles (1957.95 kmē) of it is land and 3.84 square miles (9.95 kmē) of it is water, making it the 28th largest by size in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 573.4 people per square mile (221.39/kmē), it is Pennsylvania's eighth most densely populated county. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 491489, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 435995 White, 31982 Black or African American, 900 American Indian, 17230 Asian, 183 Native Hawaiian, and 5199 from two or more races.
