Chesapeake Town, Kanawha County, West Virginia is a town located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The town has a population of 1643 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1542, It is the 98th largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 0.65 miē (1.68 kmē), of which, 0.47 square miles (1.22 kmē) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 kmē) of it is water, making it West Virginia's 180th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1643 people in the town, organized into 750 households, and 481 families residing in the town. The population density was 3487.3 people per square mile (1346.45/kmē), making it the most densely populated town in West Virginia. There were 851 housing units at an average density of 1810.6 per square mile (699.08/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.19 persons, and the average family size was 2.71 persons. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 19.7% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 83.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.2 males. The median age of the town's population was 43.3 years, the median age of male residents at 40 and the median age of female residents at 46.6. The racial makeup of the town was 88.19% White, 10.04% Black or African American, 0.06% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 1.16% from two or more races and 0.37% Other races.
