Cherokee County is one of the 254 county of Texas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Cherokee County had an official population of 46659 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 48321, giving it the 64th largest population among Texas's county. The county has a total area of 1061.93 square miles (2750.39 kmē), of which, 1052.22 square miles (2725.24 kmē) of it is land and 9.72 square miles (25.17 kmē) of it is water, it is the 66th largest in terms of geographical size.
