Cherokee County, Oklahoma is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. It is home to over 42521 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 45733, making it Oklahoma's 17th largest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 776.4 sq mi (2010.87 kmē ), of which, 751.04 square miles (1945.18 kmē) of it is land and 25.37 square miles (65.71 kmē) of it is water, it is the 44th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.
