Cherokee County, Georgia is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the county was 141903 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 210529, making it Georgia's seventh largest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 433.99 mi˛ (1124.03 sq km), of which, 423.68 square miles (1097.33 sq km) of it is land and 10.31 square miles (26.7 sq km) of it is water, making it Georgia's 51st largest county by total area.

The population density was 334.9 people per square mile (129.31/km˛), it is the 17th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Georgia. There were 51937 housing units at an average density of 122.6 per square mile (47.34/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.85 persons, and the average family size was 3.18 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 35.8% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.9 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 210529, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 90.3% White, 6.12% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 1.82% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.26% from two or more races.
