Chenango County is a one of the county from New York's 62 counties, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 51401 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 50898, It is New York's 17th least populous county. It covers total area of 898.7 square miles (2327.62 square kilometre), of which, 894.36 square miles (2316.38 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.34 square miles (11.24 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 25th largest by total area in New York.

The population density was 57.5 people per square mile (22.2/kmē), giving it the tenth least densely populated county among the New York. There were 23890 housing units at an average density of 26.7 per square mile (10.31/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.01. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 50898, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 49503 White, 585 Black or African American, 170 American Indian, 199 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 430 from two or more races.
