As of July 2008, the estimated population was 3768, It is the 28th smallest in terms of population. It is spread over 644.83 miē (1670.1 kmē), of which, 641.69 square miles (1661.97 kmē ) of it is land and 3.14 square miles (8.13 kmē) of it is water, it is the 28th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

For every 100 males there were 106.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.7 females.
