Chattooga County is a county located in the United States of Georgia. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 25470 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 26801, It is the 67th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Georgia. The county spans an area of 313.55 square miles (812.09 kmē), of which, 313.33 square miles (811.52 kmē) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 kmē) of it is water, making it Georgia's 95th largest county by total area.

The population density was 81.3 people per square mile (31.39/kmē), it is Georgia's 58th most densely populated county. There were 10677 housing units at an average density of 34.1 per square mile (13.17/kmē). The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.94. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 10% from 18 to 24, 30% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 93.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 93.8 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 26801, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 23473 White, 2916 Black or African American, 27 American Indian, 92 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, and 279 from two or more races.
