Charlotte City is a city located in the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States. As of 2000 the population was 540828. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 687456, It is North Carolina's largest by population . It covers total area of 242.87 miē (629.03 kmē), of which, 242.27 square miles (627.48 kmē) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.55 kmē) of it is water, making it North Carolina's largest by total area.
