Charlestown Town is a town located in Cecil County, Maryland, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. Charlestown Town had an official population of 1019 in 2000. The town's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1103, making it Maryland's 89th smallest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.23 sq mi (3.19 sq km), of which, 0.91 square miles (2.36 sq km) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 sq km) of it is water, it is the 109th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1019 people in the town, organized into 386 households, and 283 families living in the town. The population density was 1124.8 people per square mile (434.29/kmē), making its Maryland's 21st least densely populated town. There were 451 housing units at an average density of 495.6 per square mile (191.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.03. In the town the population was spread out, with 26.8% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 34.6% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 110.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.2 males. The median age of the town's population was 36 years, the median age of male residents at 36.1 and the median age of female residents at 35.9. The racial makeup of the town was 97.94% White, 1.77% Black or African American, 0.1% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.2% from two or more races and 0% Other races.
