Chapel Hill Town is one of the town of Orange and Chatham counties, North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 48715. In July 2008, its estimated population was 52542, It is 16th most populous in North Carolina. It covers total area of 19.82 sq mi (51.33 kmē), of which, 19.75 square miles (51.15 kmē) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 31st largest by total area among North Carolina.

The population density was 2466 people per square mile (952.13/kmē), giving it the fourth most densely populated town among the North Carolina.
