Champaign City is a one of the Champaign County, Illinois, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 67518 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 79389, giving it the 15th largest population among Illinois. The city comprises an area of 17.01 mi˛ (44.06 sq km), of which, 16.99 square miles (44 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 24th largest by total area in Illinois.

As of the census of 2000, there were 67518 people in the city, organized into 27071 households, and 12450 families living in the city. The population density was 3974.6 people per square mile (1534.6/km˛), it would be the 90th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Illinois.
