Chaffee County is a county located in the United States of Colorado. Chaffee County had an official population of 16242 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 16995, making it Colorado's 27th largest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1015.01 square miles (2628.86 kmē), of which, 1013.45 square miles (2624.82 kmē) of it is land and 1.55 square miles (4.01 kmē) of it is water, it is the 43rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.
