Centre City is a city in the Cherokee County, Alabama, United States. In 2000, city's population was 3216 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 3493, It is the 145th most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. It covers total area of 11.07 sq mi (28.67 sq km), of which, 10.97 square miles (28.41 sq km) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 sq km) of it is water, it is the 119th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 3216 people, 1324 households, and 878 families residing in the city. The population density was 293.2 people per square mile (113.21/kmē), it is 246th most densely populated city in Alabama. There were 1515 housing units at an average density of 138.1 per square mile (53.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.24 persons, and the average family size was 2.81 persons. In the Centre City, 19.5% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.1% were 18 to 24, 24% were 25 to 44, 23.9% were 45 to 64, and 24.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 81.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 76.9 males. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 87.9% White, 10.01% Black or African American, 0.37% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 1.27% from two or more races and 0.31% Other races.
