Cedar Falls City is a one of the Black Hawk County, Iowa, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 36145 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 38059, It is Iowa's 11th largest by population . It covers total area of 28.89 sq mi (74.82 sq km), of which, 28.3 square miles (73.3 sq km) of it is land and 0.59 square miles (1.53 sq km) of it is water, it is the eighth largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

As of the census of 2000, there were 36145 people, 12833 households, and 7561 families living in the city. The population density was 1277.2 people per square mile (493.13/kmē), it would be the 199th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Iowa. The median age was 26 years, the median age of male residents at 25.9 and the median age of female residents at 26.2. The racial makeup of the city was 34389 White, 568 Black or African American, 55 American Indian, 583 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, 394 from two or more races and 148 Ohter races.
