Cedar County is a county located in Nebraska, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 9615. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 8407, making it Nebraska's 34th largest county. It is spread over 745.81 square miles (1931.64 sq km), of which, 740.23 square miles (1917.19 sq km ) of it is land and 5.59 square miles (14.48 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 31st largest by total area among Nebraska's county.

The population density was 13 people per square mile (5.02/kmē), making its Nebraska's 39th most densely populated county. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 29.4% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 20% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8407, The racial makeup of the county was 8317 White, 11 Black or African American, 27 American Indian, 5 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 46 from two or more races.
