Cedar County is one of the 115 county of Missouri, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 13733 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 13652 in July 2008, It is 72nd most populous county in Missouri. The county encompasses an area of 498.51 square miles (1291.13 square kilometre ), of which, 475.93 square miles (1232.65 square kilometre) of it is land and 22.57 square miles (58.46 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Missouri's 29th smallest county by total area. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Missouri.

In the county the population was spread out, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110.5 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 13652, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 13215 White, 72 Black or African American, 102 American Indian, 68 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 189 from two or more races.
