Cavalier County, North Dakota


Cavalier County is one of the 53 county of North Dakota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 4831 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3841, making it North Dakota's 30th largest county. The county spans an area of 1510.14 mi˛ (3911.24 square kilometre), of which, 1488.46 square miles (3855.09 square kilometre) of it is land and 21.68 square miles (56.15 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 16th largest by total area among North Dakota's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4831 residents, 2017 households, and 1361 families in the county. The population density was 3.2 people per square mile (1.24/km˛), it would be the 33rd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. There were 2725 housing units at an average density of 1.8 per square mile (0.69/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the county Age distribution was 24.6% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 21.3% from 25 to 44, 27.5% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 3841, The racial makeup of the county was 97.66% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.73% American Indian, 0.21% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.25% from two or more races.
