Catasauqua Borough, Pennsylvania


Catasauqua Borough is a borough located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6588 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 6558 in July 2008, It is the 206th largest by population in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The borough encompasses an area of 1.3 square miles (3.37 kmē ), of which, 1.27 square miles (3.29 kmē) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 kmē) of it is water, it is the 596th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 6588 people, 2616 households, and 1749 families residing in the borough. The population density was 5205.7 people per square mile (2009.93/kmē), making its Pennsylvania's 129th most densely populated borough. There were 2747 housing units at an average density of 2163 per square mile (835.14/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 people, and the average family size was 3.04 people. In the borough Age distribution was 25% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males. The median age is 36.4 years, The median age of males was 35.5 years, for females the median age was 37.4 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 6298 White, 78 Black or African American, 22 American Indian, 39 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 79 from two or more races and 71 Ohter races.
