Caswell County is one of the 100 county of North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 23501. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 23248, It is 24th least populous county in North Carolina. The county spans an area of 428.43 mi˛ (1109.63 sq km), of which, 424.67 square miles (1099.89 sq km) of it is land and 3.76 square miles (9.74 sq km) of it is water, it is the 62nd largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

The population density was 55.3 people per square mile (21.35/km˛), making it the 23rd least densely populated county in North Carolina. There were 9601 housing units at an average density of 22.6 per square mile (8.73/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 26% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.3 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 23248, The racial makeup of the county was 64.58% White, 34.02% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.24% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 0.9% from two or more races.
