Cass County is a United States county located in the United States of Texas. As of 2000 the population was 30438. The July 2008 population estimate is 29284, It is the 94th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Texas. It is spread over 960.35 sq mi (2487.3 kmē), of which, 937.35 square miles (2427.73 kmē ) of it is land and 22.99 square miles (59.54 kmē) of it is water, it is the 94th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

The population density was 32.5 people per square mile (12.55/kmē), it is the 100th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 13890 housing units at an average density of 14.8 per square mile (5.71/kmē). The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.95. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.9% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 29284, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 23161 White, 5541 Black or African American, 175 American Indian, 42 Asian, 17 Native Hawaiian, and 348 from two or more races.
