Carthage Town is one of the town of Smith County, Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2251 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the town is 2236, making it Tennessee's 167th largest. The town encompasses an area of 2.87 sq mi (7.43 sq km), it is the 236th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.
