Carthage City is a one of the Miner County, South Dakota, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 187. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 155, making it the 219th most populous in South Dakota. The city extends throughout a territory of 1.49 sq mi (3.86 sq km ), of which, 1.46 square miles (3.78 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, making it the 87th largest by size in South Dakota.
