Carteret Borough is a United States borough located in the Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. In 2000, borough's population was 20709 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the borough is 23367, It is New Jersey's 67th largest by population . According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.99 square miles (12.92 kmē), of which, 4.36 square miles (11.29 kmē) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 kmē) of it is water, it is the 112th largest in terms of geographical size.
