Carroll County is a county located in the United States of New Hampshire. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Carroll County is home to 43666 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 47408, giving it the third smallest population among New Hampshire's county. It covers total area of 992.24 square miles (2569.89 kmē), of which, 933.8 square miles (2418.53 kmē) of it is land and 58.44 square miles (151.36 kmē) of it is water, making it New Hampshire's third largest county by total area. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in New Hampshire.

As of the census of 2000, there were 43666 people in the county, organized into 18351 households, and 12312 families living in the county. The population density was 46.8 people per square mile (18.07/kmē), it is New Hampshire's second least densely populated county. There were 34750 housing units at an average density of 37.2 per square mile (14.36/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.35 persons, and the average family size was 2.82 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 22.6% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 47408, The racial makeup of the county was 46424 White, 172 Black or African American, 139 American Indian, 334 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 335 from two or more races.
