Carroll County is a county in the United States of Maryland. Carroll County had an official population of 150897 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 169353, It is ninth most populous county in Maryland. The county extends throughout a territory of 452.4 mi˛ (1171.71 square kilometre ), of which, 449.13 square miles (1163.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.27 square miles (8.47 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 16th largest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.

Its population was estimated at 169353 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 157777 White, 6775 Black or African American, 396 American Indian, 2691 Asian, 40 Native Hawaiian, and 1674 from two or more races.
