Carroll County is a county in the United States of Maryland. Carroll County had an official population of 150897 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 169353, It is ninth most populous county in Maryland. The county extends throughout a territory of 452.4 mi˛ (1171.71 square kilometre ), of which, 449.13 square miles (1163.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.27 square miles (8.47 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 16th largest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.

In the county Population was distributed with 27.7% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94 males. Its population was estimated at 169353 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 157777 White, 6775 Black or African American, 396 American Indian, 2691 Asian, 40 Native Hawaiian, and 1674 from two or more races.
