Carroll County, Illinois is a county of the United States of Illinois. In 2000, the population was 16674. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 15841, It is 31st least populous county in Illinois. The county comprises an area of 465.77 sq mi (1206.34 square kilometre), of which, 444.21 square miles (1150.5 square kilometre) of it is land and 21.56 square miles (55.84 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 61st largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Illinois.

The population density was 37.5 people per square mile (14.48/kmē), making it the 67th most densely populated county in Illinois. There were 7945 housing units at an average density of 17.9 per square mile (6.91/kmē). The average household size was 2.42 people, and the average family size was 2.93 people. In the Carroll County, 24.3% of the population was under the age of 18, 6.6% were 18 to 24, 25.4% were 25 to 44, 24.5% were 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 15841, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 15403 White, 163 Black or African American, 42 American Indian, 86 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 142 from two or more races.
