Caroline County is a county located in Virginia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 22121. The July 2008 population estimate is 27632, It is the 62nd largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 538.89 square miles (1395.72 kmē ), of which, 532.52 square miles (1379.22 kmē) of it is land and 6.36 square miles (16.47 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 18th largest by total area among Virginia's county.
