Caroline County is one of the 24 county of Maryland, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. Caroline County had an official population of 29772 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 33138, It is the fifth smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Maryland. The county has a total area of 326.06 sq mi (844.49 sq km), of which, 320.14 square miles (829.16 sq km) of it is land and 5.92 square miles (15.33 sq km) of it is water, it is the third smallest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.

The population density was 93 people per square mile (35.91/kmē), it is the fifth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 12028 housing units at an average density of 37.6 per square mile (14.52/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 33138, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 27534 White, 4695 Black or African American, 198 American Indian, 243 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 457 from two or more races.
