Caribou County, Idaho


Caribou County is a county located in the United States of Idaho. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 7304 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 6826 in July 2008, making it the tenth least populous county in Idaho. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1798.62 sq mi (4658.4 kmē), of which, 1766.01 square miles (4573.94 kmē) of it is land and 32.61 square miles (84.46 kmē) of it is water, it is the 18th largest by area in the U.S. state of Idaho. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Idaho.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7304 residents, 2560 households, and 1978 families in the county. The population density was 4.1 people per square mile (1.58/kmē), it would be the 14th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Idaho. There were 3188 housing units at an average density of 1.8 per square mile (0.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.29. In the county Age distribution was 31.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 101.5 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 6826, The racial makeup of the county was 6722 White, 6 Black or African American, 17 American Indian, 7 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 64 from two or more races.
