Cape May City is a city located in the Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 4034 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3686, It is the 321st largest by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.25 kmē), of which, 2.48 square miles (6.42 kmē) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 kmē) of it is water, it is the 213th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4034 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the city. The population density was 1623.7 people per square mile (626.91/kmē), making it the 129th least densely populated city in New Jersey.
