Campbell County is a United States county located in the United States of Kentucky. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 88616 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 87038, giving it the eighth largest population among Kentucky's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 159.43 square miles (412.92 square kilometre ), of which, 151.55 square miles (392.51 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.87 square miles (20.38 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 584.7 people per square mile (225.75/kmē), making its Kentucky's fourth most densely populated county. There were 36898 housing units at an average density of 243.5 per square mile (94.02/kmē). The average household size was 2.49 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. The population's age distribution was 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 87038, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.98% White, 2.2% Black or African American, 0.2% American Indian, 0.69% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.91% from two or more races.
