Cameron County is a one of the county from Texas's 254 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 335227 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 392736, It is the 13th largest in terms of population. The county has a total area of 1276.33 mi˛ (3305.68 sq km), of which, 905.76 square miles (2345.91 sq km) of it is land and 370.58 square miles (959.8 sq km) of it is water, it is the 36th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Texas.

The population density was 370.1 people per square mile (142.9/km˛), making its Texas's 13th most densely populated county. There were 119654 housing units at an average density of 132.1 per square mile (51/km˛). The average household size was 3.4 and the average family size was 3.81. In the county the population was spread out, with 33.8% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 17.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.3 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 392736, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 380605 White, 4722 Black or African American, 2512 American Indian, 2503 Asian, 242 Native Hawaiian, and 2152 from two or more races.
