Cambridge City is a city located in Isanti County, Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 5520 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 7692, making it Minnesota's 120th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.26 sq mi (16.21 kmē), of which, 6.17 square miles (15.98 kmē) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 kmē) of it is water, making it Minnesota's 133rd largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5520 people in the city, organized into 2237 households, and 1353 families living in the city. The population density was 894.1 people per square mile (345.21/kmē), it is the 335th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. There were 2373 housing units at an average density of 384.6 per square mile (148.49/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 people, and the average family size was 2.95 people.
