Calhoun County is a one of the county from Mississippi's 82 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Calhoun County had an official population of 15069 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 14508, making it the 24th least populous county in Mississippi. It is spread over 587.97 square miles (1522.84 kmē), of which, 586.54 square miles (1519.13 kmē ) of it is land and 1.43 square miles (3.7 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 38th largest by total area in Mississippi.

In the county Population was distributed with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 27% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 14508, The racial makeup of the county was 70.18% White, 28.92% Black or African American, 0.18% American Indian, 0.06% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.63% from two or more races.
