Calhoun County is a county located in the United States of Georgia. In 2000, the population was 6320. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 6271, It is Georgia's 12th least populous county. The county spans an area of 283.57 square miles (734.44 square kilometre), of which, 280.18 square miles (725.66 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.39 square miles (8.78 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 52nd smallest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6320 people in the county, organized into 1962 households, and 1347 families residing in the county. The population density was 22.6 people per square mile (8.73/kmē), making it the 19th least densely populated county in Georgia. There were 2305 housing units at an average density of 8.2 per square mile (3.17/kmē). The average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 3.15 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 22.1% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 130.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 139.8 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 6271, The racial makeup of the county was 2417 White, 3809 Black or African American, 9 American Indian, 5 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 31 from two or more races.
