Calhoun County is a county in the United States of Florida. As of 2000 the population was 13017. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 13617, making it the fifth least populous county in Florida. Its area is just over 574.34 square miles (1487.53 sq km), of which, 567.31 square miles (1469.33 sq km) of it is land and 7.03 square miles (18.21 sq km) of it is water, making it Florida's tenth smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13017 residents, 4468 households, and 3130 families in the county. The population density was 22.9 people per square mile (8.84/kmē), it is the eighth least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Florida. There were 5250 housing units at an average density of 9.3 per square mile (3.59/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.02. In the Calhoun County, 23.2% of the population was under the age of 18, 9% were 18 to 24, 31.5% were 25 to 44, 22.3% were 45 to 64, and 14% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 117.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 120.8 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 13617, The racial makeup of the county was 80.71% White, 15.97% Black or African American, 1.31% American Indian, 0.57% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.39% from two or more races.
