Calera City is a United States city located in the Chilton and Shelby counties, Alabama, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 3158 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10742, It is the 148th largest in terms of population. The city comprises an area of 12.93 sq mi (33.49 square kilometre), of which, 12.9 square miles (33.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 95th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3158 people in the city, organized into 1248 households, and 889 families living in the city. The population density was 244.9 people per square mile (94.56/kmē), making its Alabama's 297th most densely populated city. There were 1400 housing units at an average density of 108.5 per square mile (41.89/kmē). The average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 3.04 persons.
